The rest of the day went by quickly. Meredith worked on finishing up the paperwork that had accumulated over the past weeks. She finished with a settlement for a divorce, putting it aside with a smirk.
Sorry guy, you should have had a prenup.
“Ma’am?” Meredith looked over at the door. Dana was standing there. “I’ve finished taking a look at the files and such. You can give them a look now.”
Meredith stared at Dana. The shorter woman looked… Not nervous. No, almost aroused. She was wiggling her hips slightly, leg’s pressed together.
“Anything unusual about them?”
“No, they’re all PDFs. They have a watermark, though.”
Meredith nodded to herself. Faked files were a common problem, so ever more complex watermarks were becoming a thing to defeat them.
Personally, Meredith expected that before she quit, the world would have come around full circle to just having nothing but hard-copy records in law offices. It’d be great for the paralegals, she supposed.
“Okay, send them over.”
“I will. Ma’am, it’s almost five. Do you mind if I leave a little bit early?”
“Hot date?” Meredith asked. That was a joke. Dana didn’t date.
“I…” Dana blushed. “No. I just feel a little strange.”
“Well, take off then. Don’t want you getting sick for the next week.”
“Thank you, Ma’am!” Dana scurried off, evidently not wanting to give Meredith a chance to change her mind.
Is she wiggling her hips? Meredith shook her head. It was a strange time for Dana to notice that she had a body… Oh well. That’s not my problem.
Then she clicked the files that Dana had put into the shared folder and frowned for a moment. They wee awfully big files for text PDFs.
And it took a while for the computer to open them. Meredith tapped one finger against her desktop.
Then, in a bloom of color and light, the files were open. She looked at the long lists of assets, ranging from company shares to the ownership of an… “Authentic Western Themed Saloon and Bawdy House?” She shook her head at that. It looked like Mr. Jones was wealthier than he let one, and explained the watermarking. There was information here that, if someone decided to spread it, could do a lot of damage to his assets.
Good thing she had the best possible security on her network.
But, as Meredith looked over the information, the noticed the shimmering images that were on the sides of the paper, and the single complex symbol that was at the center of each sheet. No matter how she resized them, the watermarks were still there, changing color every second.
It was distracting.
But not unpleasant. Meredith found her eyes tracing the lines, focusing on the colors, even as they drew her eye to the center symbol. It looked like a stylized…
Woman? Meredith blinked, but the moment she thought about that, her eyes were drawn back to the edge of the document she’d been looking at. They flicked around the edge and then back to the central symbol.
It did look like a woman. Curvy, full-breasted, narrow waisted and wide-hipped. The kind of woman a man would want to just take, to bent over a desk and fuck while she screamed and wailed out with pleasure…
Meredith felt her legs press together, her female core becoming warm as her mind wandered about, imagining what it would be like to be taken…
Then she bit her lip. Great. Now you’re being turned on by watermarks.
She shook her head and tried to get back to studying the financial documents.
It didn’t take long. They were well arranged, organized… And all in Michael’s name. In fact, Linda’s place on the documents were limited to various stipulations that essentially reduced her to almost a ward—she didn’t receive an ownership share, she received an allowance. Even any salary or other revenue Linda recieved went straight to Michael, under the same stipulations.
It was like some sort of 18th century marriage, not something in the 21st century. Linda would be completely helpless, dependent on…
Meredith looked back at the central figure, her eyes once again tracing the curving lines. The woman was featureless, but suddenly, Meredith wondered how eager she would be… Or would she be nervous. Some woman waiting to become a man’s, losing everything she had to become his obedient wife, without property or money or… Anything.
She licked her lips.
I wonder what it would be like, if you knew that even though people called you doctor, all your money went to your man, that you had to ask him for permission, like his pet… Like his possession…
A doctor… or a lawyer…
Meredith shook her head violently. She’d been working too long. But maybe that’s why Dana had gone out with that odd wiggling motion. Maybe she was thinking what it would be like to be a guys… To find a guy who would make her his…
Dana was the kind of woman a guy would want to have after all. She was just—
No. Let’s get to work.
Meredith started working once again. But it took her more time than she expected, and she couldn’t stop looking at the central watermark and wondering…
